Sugar free? What does that really mean?

Updated: Apr 3

There are naturally occurring sugars in our foods. The good news is that the body is able to recognise and process these easily.

When sugar occurs naturally in our foods it is combined with protein, mineral, fibre, carbohydrates etc. these can be a part of a nutrient rich eating plan. The key is the quantity that you consume.

An ideal meal has to have proteins, fats and carbohydrates, and it is the proportion of them that is important.

Fewer starchy carbohydrates e.g. grains, bean, fruit and root vegetables is beneficial.

Then you have processed, refined and artificial sweeteners.
